Hi

Description:

Need to enable LSO (large segment offload) on AIX server

Solution:

1. Be sure that it enabled on hardware adapter (network card):

# lsattr -E -l ent0 |grep large
large_send     yes              Enable hardware TX TCP resegmentation          True

2. Now check interface assigned to this network card (en0 in my case).

# ifconfig en0

en0: flags=1e080863,c0<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,GROUPRT,64BIT,

CHECKSUM_OFFLOAD(ACTIVE),CHAIN>
        inet 10.1.14.144 netmask 0xfffff000 broadcast 10.1.15.255

# lsattr -El en0 -a mtu_bypass
mtu_bypass off Enable/Disable largesend for virtual Ethernet True

# chdev -l en0 -a mtu_bypass=on                 (this command enable LSO on interface).
en0 changed

3. Check interface now:

# ifconfig en0
en0: flags=1e080863,c0<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,GROUPRT,64BIT,

CHECKSUM_OFFLOAD(ACTIVE),LARGESEND,CHAIN>
        inet 10.1.14.144 netmask 0xfffff000 broadcast 10.1.15.255

How you see word LARGESEND now present in ifconfig output. LSO enabled.

Thank you.
