Hi

Description:

Oracle Virtual Server (OVS) with installed on it VM Solaris 11 SPARC (LDOM guest). Kernel zone created on LDOM guest on boot report about next error:

# zoneadm -z ldomkz boot

failed to create vnic for net0: operation failed
zoneadm: zone 'ldomkz': call to zoneadmd failed

Solution:
1. To solve that issue need to create virtual net with 2 or more mac addresses. On LDOM host server look on services:
# ldm list
NAME             STATE      FLAGS   CONS    VCPU  MEMORY   UTIL  NORM  UPTIME
primary          active     -n-cv-  UART    8     8G       1.0%  1.0%  16d 6h 48m
0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f active     -n----  5000    50    64G      0.0%  0.0%  1h 19m

pay attention NAME ( in that case it is 0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f)
# ldm list-constraints 0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f
DOMAIN
0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f

UUID
    0004fb00-0006-0000-ff1d-3d8336112f6f

HOSTID
    0x36112f6f

CONTROL
    failure-policy=ignore
    extended-mapin-space=on
    cpu-arch=native
    rc-add-policy=
    shutdown-group=15
    perf-counters=htstrand

VCPU
    COUNT:    50

MEMORY
    SIZE:    64G

CONSTRAINT

VARIABLES
    boot-device=disk1 cdrom0
    pm_boot_policy=disabled=0;ttfc=2000;ttmr=0;

NETWORK
NAME             SERVICE                     ID   DEVICE     MAC               MODE   PVID VID                  MTU   MAXBW      LINKPROP
    net0             10ffaab8e4                  0    network@0  00:21:f6:d6:d3:e5        1                         1500             phys-state
DISK
    NAME             VOLUME                      TOUT ID
    cdrom0           0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f-cdrom0@primary-vds0      0
    disk1            0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f-disk1@primary-vds0      1

VCONS
    NAME             SERVICE                     PORT   LOGGING

Look on Network SERVICE name (in that case 10ffaab8e4)

2. Add vnet:
# ldm add-vnet alt-mac-addrs=auto,auto vnet1 10ffaab8e4 0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f

Check now:
# ldm list-constraints 0004fb0000060000ff1d3d8336112f6f
NETWORK
    NAME             SERVICE                     ID   DEVICE     MAC
    net0             10ffaab8e4                  0    network@0  00:21:f6:d6:d3:e5
    vnet1            10ffaab8e4                  1    network@1
                                                                              00:14:4f:f9:23:c0
                                                                              00:14:4f:fb:d6:8b

3. Now zone will boot successfully.

Thank you.
